The part is not as popular as it was due to a number of reasons, one of the main reasons being the policy towards Iraq and the way this had
been presented to the electorate. This policy, which involves occupation of Iraq and support of the US is blamed as a major factors that has resulted in numerous terrorist attacks
on British citizens globally and more recently the four bombs on the London transportation system on the 7th of July and the failed attempts on the 21st of July 2005.
The country remains on high alert and more terrorist attacks are expected. The fall out form this has been to aggravate relations with France and Germany. There is little
doubt that the EU budget needs to adjusted as the costs are to high and it is operating in deficit. France sees the UK as a good target, with the
high level of rebates received form import duties, however France is a major recipient of the agricultural subsidies, which the UK argue should be re-evaluated and will only agree to
looking at their rebate if France also looks to its own subsidies, which France is unwilling to do. With the isolate political position of the UK this is leading to
