Holy Spirit, was not a basic principle of belief from the inception of the Church, but rather grew over time as theologians attempted to reconcile their belief in Jesus divinity
with the concept of one God. An examination of Trinitarian theology demonstrates the issues involved in formulating this doctrine, and also how the Trinity can act as a symbol in
directing the worshiper toward a God that exists beyond rational thought (Ottati 1044). Scriptural basis for the concept of the Trinity Scripture does not refer to the concept of
the Trinity, as such, but there are a plethora of verses that imply the existence of the Trinity. For example, in Colossians 2:9, Paul makes a powerful statement that suggests
Jesus divine nature: "For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form." Similarly, in Titus 2:13, Paul talks about "our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ."
In the first chapter of John, scripture refers to Jesus as God coming to Earth in human form (Berg 42). In the fifth chapter of Acts, a man is confronted
with these words, "How is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit...You have not lied to men but to God" (Berg
