there are problems in the workplace, but also suggests that the problem is in the home as well (26). The author says, for example, that when a child is home
sick, the women and not the men drop everything and go home; he asks why the men cannot also do the same (Maich 26). The problem is that women are
not there for the company as are the men and that is a problem. Also, there is gender bias in the workplace and whether that is a social construction and
a function of the larger society is not important. What is important is leveling the playing field. Sometimes, bad attitudes can persist and they infect the workplace. Some people
claim that there are gender differences, so it would be disingenuous to ignore them. However, one study reports that males and females are more alike than different ("American Psychological Association,"
2005). Sometimes it helps to evaluate individuals and see how they get along with the opposite sex. In a Questionnaire submitted by a student entitled Gender Consciousness Questionnaire, various
questions are related to how one responds to gender issues. The scale for this questionnaire is broken into three groups, and the students scores are as follows: * Expectation
of Privilege 24 * Preference for Similarity 11 * Preference for Control 14 Based on the instructions submitted with the questionnaire, an analysis suggests that, in respect to expectation of
privilege, is that ones perspective is balanced with that of others. The score falls into the moderate category. In regard to preference for similarity, that is in the moderate category.
