867 Natural and manmade disasters present many threats to governmental entities. Because
of its unique geography, environment, and sociocultural composition, in Florida these threats are particularly pronounced. Even in the midst of a disaster governmental entities must continue operating as near
to normal as possible if they are to minimize the impacts of these disasters and quickly bounce back from them. Floridas Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) is required under
Florida Statute 252.365. Various levels of these plans are prepared according to the particular governmental agency and its responsibilities. The purpose of this paper is to review the
COOP for the Town of Palm Beach Communications Unit. Speedy disaster response, recovery and mitigation all depend on continuity of operations (Shenot, 2007).
How our government agencies and private organizations interact to protect our safety under the threat of such natural disasters as hurricanes or acts of terrorism stand as an example
