which inhabit the Earth. The work prompts one to think of themselves as an animal as opposed to a human being. The important thing that purportedly separates human beings from
animals has been mans ability to reason. But is that reason really important in the scheme of things or is it just something that humans do? The owl hoots, the
dogs bark and cats meow. Humans talk. Yet, humans believe that because they can talk they are superior. The thematic elements that are contained in the compilation known as Dead
Voices goes to the idea that the perspectives of various animals can be life changing. It provides the sense that the world is one, that animals are a part of
it just as are humans. The ideas to emanate from this book are worthwhile. And while there are various issues addressed in terms of superiority, perhaps the ultimate subject is
death. After all, after one dies, he or she loses their place in the present life. There is nothing after that, or if there is, it is not the same
as being present in the mortal life. To other mortals, that soul is gone. Life and death issues have been a theme of many authors. The idea that one
can live forever or have life after death is a hope that human beings hold onto and artists, writers and poets understand desperate attempt to grasp at immortality. Certainly, the
