Essay / Research Paper Abstract
6 pages. Because of the severe overcrowding of Texas prisons, the incidence of prison violence is becoming more and more common. In most cases it is the newer and weaker prisoners who are the victims of violence such as rape and gang beatings. In order to better correct this problem of prison violence, necessary actions would be to input basic prisoner information into the computer system such as what type group each prisoner should be housed with in order to ensure that the most violent of prisoners are kept with others of their kind, and the perpetrators of less violent crimes grouped accordingly. But is this a viable solution? This paper will deal with the topic of whether or not we should consider an inmate's crime and punish them accordingly. Bibliography lists 7 sources.

"just another convicted murderer" (Castlebury 124) except for the fact that her victim was no less than Tejano singing star Selena. Saldivar is still in protective custody at Gatesville
prison although no threats have been made on her life. In other celebrity cases, Texas saw singer David Crosby of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young convicted of drug-related charges.
Reports Glen Castlebury (124) "Crosby, who was 45 when he came in, was assigned to a unit specifically because of its older, more settled population. It was a unit in
