which exists between the U.S. military and the media. While during the World Wars our military trusted the media and often shared critical
information with it as a matter of course, that relationship degenerated with the Vietnam War. Today the relationship is still tenuous to say the

The relationship which exists between the military and the media has changed dramatically since World War II when President Eisenhower felt comfortable enough with the press
to share the details of the plans regarding D-Day. The only insurance Eisenhower had that critical details of our militarys plans regarding D-Day would not be spread was the
fact that he requested that the media not divulge the facts prior to the actual attack. The media honored that request. That relationship between the military and the
media remained essentially the same during Korea, in fact. By the time of the Vietnam War, however, that relationship would deteriorate to the point that not only was the
media not trusted, they had earned that distrust. While correspondents on the ground in Vietnam were doing an excellent job in covering the facts of the war, by the
time the information was filtered through the various media channels and disseminated to the public, it was often considerably altered. The purpose of that alteration was to provide support
for the strong antiwar agenda which existed during that war. The relationship of distrust between the military and the media during Vietnam continues to this day. By the
time the Grenada and Panama invasions rolled around, the military instituted a complete media blackout in terms of the details of the event. In the current war in Iraq
the relationship between the media and the military remains shaky to say the least. The disintegrated relationship which characterizes the current day state
of affairs between the military and the media can be explained by a number of factors. One of these is the general disintegration of ethics and mores. While
