synopsis of the storyline as well as the morals that are apparent within the pages. THE SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON This well-known book is based upon the adventures of a
"Swiss clergyman and his family who are shipwrecked on a deserted island" (Swiss Family Robinson PG). The book was intended as a childrens book but has entertained as many
or more adults as it has children. The fantasy of being shipwrecked on an island and living on it by ones wits is the fantasy shared by many people
over time. When stress and the troubles of the world cause us to look for a simpler and less stressful way of life, we might sit back and long
for the carefree life of sitting beneath a shady palm as the ocean sparkles before us. As we soon learn in the book, however, the lives of the Swiss Family
Robinson is not always a bed of roses. Wrought with many different problems, not the least of which is an attack by murderous pirates, this book nonetheless makes each
reader wish he or she could share in the adventure. The fantastic inventions and methods used by the Robinson family to make their lives easier and more pleasurable on
the island as they await being spotted by a passing ship has all of us shaking our heads in awe. Building an amazing series of "pipes" from hollow bamboo
