Iraq. It is well known of course that there is much controversy throughout the world, and in the U.S. as well, as it respect to the ongoing war. In the
situation at hand, what is of "particular concern is the fact that other Middle Eastern nations are becoming increasingly disgruntled with the continued U.S. involvement in Iraq. The specific concern
is that organizations like Hamas may be gaining support in their notion of having a united Arabic nation under the blanket rule of Islam." In other words, while the world
is against the U.S. for waging this war, it may actually strengthen a rouge group like Hamas. Although it is noted that no one really fears that the Middle East
will become a separate country, there is concern that Hamas may have the support to upset the power structure in the region. A student writing on this subject asks
several questions. The first question is: " If Hamas enjoys unparalleled financial, military, and human support, what are the implications for Israel?" Clearly, Israel is the nation that would be
affected by a strengthened Hamas. The organization combines the ideas of Palestinian nationalism with religious fundamentalism ("Terrorism," 2004). Its founding charter pledges that the group will carry out armed
struggles and try to destroy Israel (2004). It aims to replace Arafats government as well and raise and effectively create a Palestine (2004). Hamas leaders brag about the
March 2002 suicide bombing that killed 28 Israelis at a Passover seder (2004). It was called a great success (2004). Welcoming Israeli retaliation is a way that they
