Looking at three companies operating the same industry it is possible to see the way in which the balance between these different approaches to the use websites. EasyJet is a budget airline, the initial page of EasyJet indicates that the main purpose of the website is to make sales; primarily to set of airline tickets. On the front page there are advertisements for some of the lower-priced roots in fares, there is also a search facility so that potential passengers can find prices for specific flights. The company is setting the flights based on price and value; when a search is undertaken for flights the result pages will show a number of flights with different prices. This will allow the potential passenger to choose flights according to time and date, but also to identify the times of the cheapest flights. As the sale of the flights progresses the company leverages potential to make additional sales by offering additional services. Some of these are directly related to the flight, such as the speedy boarding option which allows the passengers to board the airline for the majority of other passengers and travel insurance, as well as other services which complement the purpose of buying the airline tickets including hotels and car hire. It is possible to go to website and buy goods or services which are not flights, despite this being the website of an airline.
