government, and the actual structure, is desirable, the government is still unstable. This is due to the fact that its roots are shaky. While Brazil has tried to embrace democracy,
its problems from the past have surfaced. In fact, many things have converged to question the tenacity with which Brazil forges ahead. It is true that while Brazil sets a
good example, it fails in some respects. The current state of democracy in Brazil is sketchy. It is present, but the military has created a dark shadow over a
nation trying to pull away from its past, dismal roots. The economy, the government and the military contribute to its stability, but Brazil fails to be stable in the larger
sense. It is simply not up to what visionaries want for the nation. There is no telling what will happen next and so one may conclude that the nation is
politically unstable. Brazil is a federative republic ("Brazil"). It is considered to be a democracy. Yet, for any government to work, economics have to be in place and democracy has
to reign in full force. A little democracy does not work and Brazil has had a hard time in the past. For the most part, the nation is trying to
become a free and equal society, but there are problems. The government is unstable largely because it is rather young. Also, fears linger and the future is uncertain.
II. The Military The armed forces of Brazil have been key in helping to overthrow the regime in 1889 and the military was very
