there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting men may know there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no other" (Isaiah 45:6). In these passages, we find clear evidence that God is Sovereign. Sovereign means to rule, to be above all. The sovereignty of God means that God is the absolute authority. He rules over everything that exists. He is the one who created everything. God is found in nature and in grace. To fully understand the sovereignty of God, it is necessary to mention, at least in passing, the Old Testament where time and time again, God is consistently given the realm of Deity, as the one and only one who rules heaven and earth: "He is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else" (Deuteronomy 4:35, 39). Jesus answers: "The most important one ... is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength" (Mark 12:29). ...
