all, it is something that one cannot pin down or measure. While that is the case, Plato sure tries and Aristotle seems to see the soul as something that is
only aligned with the body for the time that an individual spends on the Earth. Indeed, ancient philosophers contemplated the soul. It is not a new invention by any
means nor is it something exclusively aligned with religion. The soul is something that many people wonder about. Some people, and especially atheists contend that when man dies, his
body simply disappears. It becomes ash. It rots in the ground. There is nothing more to it. However, most people believe in the after life and the existence of what
some have come to believe is a soul. The soul is a part of the person, but not a part of the human body. In fact, when the human body
dies, the soul lives on. While it is hard to prove the existence of the soul, it is something that has become the delight of philosophers from various time
periods. Plato was one philosopher who delved into this complex subject. Plato saw the soul as something that is only with the human being for a short span of time.
The cave allegory is quite well known and has been used by many to interpret Platos philosophy, particularly in terms of how it relates to the soul. In the
allegory, humans are born and live in a cave, but they are chained and shackled. They can see light only in the distance. In some way one can compare this
