An 8 page overview of the accomplishments and shortcomings of the Soong Dynasty of the twentieth century. This was a period which was largely under control of the powerful Soong family. The Soong family came to power in China during the Chinese Revolution of 1911. This revolution would set in motion a series of political and cultural changes which would extend, at least in remnant form, through the Twentieth Century. Many of these changes would relate to the choices which China would make after the revolution, choices centering around their political alliances and ideologies. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

century. This dynasty was one which was directly supported by the U.S. government despite the fact that it was ultimately allied with the Soviet Union. It controlled, in
fact, U.S. Asian policy during the twentieth century. It was also a dynasty which resulted in numerous changes in China. While some of these changes were beneficial, others
would turn out to be disastrous. Mao Tse Tung, one of the Soong Dynastys most prominent representatives, remains an important and appreciated leader to the Chinese people.
Soong Sisters The Soong family was a very wealthy
and powerful Chinese family, the leaders of which had been educated in the United States. One of the Soong daughters, in fact, is the first Chinese woman to have ever
been educated in the United States. She was one of three sisters who represented a powerful triage in early twentieth century China. The motivations of each, however, were
dramatically different. Seagrave (1987) reports that only one of these sisters was a true Chinese patriot. The other two are said to have been more concerned with attaining
power and wealth than they were in propelling China into a fortuitous future. Interestingly, each of these sisters would marry prominently within the Chinese government. While one married
the leader of the army, the other two married prominent leaders in banking and the communist party. The result was a complex network of power in the Chinese government.
