and provide very accurate images of body structures which in turn significantly decreases the need to perform surgeries designed to accomplish the same goal (CAT Scan, 2003). Furthermore, CAT
scans are advantageous because they are very low risk procedures (CAT Scan, 2003). The use of CAT scans have greatly
helped doctors in diagnosing disease and discovering diseases in their early stages, and in this way it is evident that the ramifications for society have been huge (CAT Scan, 2003).
Quite literally, the use of CAT scans has helped save untold number of lives and has allowed many to receive treatment for disease in its earlier stages, when the
likelihood of a cure or remission is still high. Perhaps even more importantly, the use of CAT scans has allowed for the sharp decline of exploratory surgeries, and in
this way has diminished the complications resulting from such surgery. We live in an era of rapid medical advancement, thanks in
large part to ever-changing technology. As a result of this technology, medical advancements, such as the CAT scan, are having an enormous effect on the world. Imagine the
impact of a CAT scan enabling a scientist to live a longer life. Could he/she possibly be destined to find the cure for cancer? What about the child
whose brain injury is able to be treated thanks to the diagnostic capabilities of the CAT scan. The child now has his/her whole life to impact the world.
