just as there are in any fairy tale. There are several elements which distinguish a fairy tale from other types of stories and "Goblin Market" has many
of the necessary elements. It is curious to note that there are also many similarities between "Goblin Market" and the biblical story of Adam and Eve. In this
way, both of these stories can be viewed from the perspective of the fairy tale and analyzed as such. Themes in "Goblin Market"
Christina Rossettis "Goblin Market" is a tale which bears several themes. One could derive from it to be careful of temptation or that talking to strange
men isnt a great idea (Phillips, 2002). Here again we see the similarity between this story and the story of
Adam and Eve - as they too were tempted. Furthermore, there is the inclusion of forbidden fruit in both of these stories.
Rossetti manages to construct a strong female hero within this poem which is one of the strong points of the poem (Phillips, 2002). Lizzie actually risks her own
life in order to save the life of her sister which is a very heroic deed and similar to the heroes of many fairy tales. The overall feel of
