appear. Would it be too obvious that the men are waiting for God? After all, the premise of the work is about two men waiting for someone named Godot who
they do not know nor do they know anything about him. They do not even know why they are waiting for him. What ensues is discussion intertwined with boredom.
There are several themes in this work and the obvious question to be answered is, who is Godot and why are they waiting? The
first question may never be answered. Who is Godot? Again, one might interpret this to be God. After all, people wait their whole lives to meet God. They prepare by
going to church, trying to do the right things in life and communication with him beforehand. Yet, it will only be after their demise that they will meet the one
character who they have wanted to know all of their lives. Many people live their lives for God and want to know him. Ironically, the only way they can really
know him is if they die. In order to know God, and to know that he really exists, one has to give up life. Most people will not do this,
although there are some who are willing. Some of the kamikaze pilots who crashed into buildings on September 11th believed they were going to meet their God. It was reported
that Vincent Van Gogh killed himself to end the mystery. Some people do not want to wait for a timely death. As Vladimir and Estragon wait for Godot, they are
certainly intrigued. They know he is coming, as they are informed that he will be there, but Godot never arrives. One may draw that parallel to real life. Again, people
