law and insurance issues. Products in transit can become damaged. The ship itself could sink or suffer damage. Therefore, contracts and insurance policies purchased in the course of doing business
in this industry is vitally important. United Kingdom legal requirements as a consequence of recommendations made in an earlier report are relevant here. A student writing on this topic, in
order to avoid difficulties in Britain, will want to research the law in depth. For example, one law that is relevant is the Merchant Shipping and Maritime Security Act of
1997. The law lays out the requirements such as the temporary exclusion zones, powers of intervention when a shipping accident threatens pollution and powers of intervention in cases of pollution
by substances other than oil ("Merchant" PG). Those are just a few of many issues that the law addresses. One can see that the rules are quite intricate and special
