Sacramento, the focus of attention, is one of those locales. Conversely, when there is a serious threat of which the federal government is aware, they provide localities with information so
they can use it to protect their own citizens. They may raise the local level of awareness and heighten restrictions during times of high alert for example. Each city around
the nation possesses specific plans and protocols to deal with threats to the community. At the federal level, there is the Terrorist Threat Integration Center or TTIC (Poland, 2005). The
TTIC brings various departments together such as units of the FBI and CIA (Poland, 2005). The agency has implemented a new system to contain all data and make sure appropriate
individuals are alerted (Poland, 2005). TTIC goes about collecting data through combing newspapers as well as examining criminal agencies and their sources (Poland, 2005). They also get information from internal
spies and informants (Poland, 2005). They compile the data and determine whether or not it is relevant, reliable or even reasonable (Poland, 2005). Some threats are taken seriously, whereas others
are not. After the information is examined and categorized, a decision is made as to whether or not it should be released, and to which agency or which individuals
(Poland, 2005). Once again, while at the federal level, a variety of information is considered, local agencies have their own procedures and protocols, of which Sacramento, California is one.
II. Sacramentos Response to Terrorism In respect to the Sacramento Police Departments response to terrorism, and how they go about gathering intelligence, is important. Every city in
