a psychological reality, others may argue that it is biological or sociological. And, whereas one can clearly argue that some violence stems from the need to survive, others may argue
that this does not offer clues to where violence truly originates. As we can readily imagine, the cause of violence, or the root of violence, is something not proven one
way or the other. Bearing that in mind the following paper examines the various arguments concerning the origins or roots of violence. The paper discusses psychological causes, biological causes, and
sociological causes. The Roots of Violence In first examining the roots of violence we turn to discussing psychological reasons. These are those reasons which point to perhaps, conditioning
or environment which influences the nature of a human being. It also indicates that violence is something that is a part of mankinds psychological make-up, a condition that is separate
from biological make-up. From the psychological perspective we can perhaps understand how an individual abused and confused as a child will psychologically strike out and try to make some sort
of amends with their world, or somehow try to fit in. It becomes quite obvious that this is a very powerful and intricate possibility for the roots of violence. It
is almost a learned behavior, not socially speaking, but psychologically speaking. It is the human minds reaction and perhaps solution to adverse conditions experienced through life. And, such violence can
be seen in strange violent outbursts that may involve spousal abuse, or very powerful examples such as would be seen with a mass murderer. Through these possibilities, and more
not mentioned, we can understand that many may argue that the roots of violence stem from the need to psychologically, and perhaps physically, protect ourselves. Interestingly enough, this type of
