In each of these roles named there are wrongful convictions at times and because this is the case, each of the players in these roles should take steps to prevent
errors (2004). The role of the prosecutor is integral in determining whether or not there is a case. In the case of Kobe Bryant it is quite possible that the
prosecutor was too quick to render charges based on claims that were likely fabricated. In many instances it is the prosecutor who decides to make a case even when evidence
is flimsy. This can lead to wrongful convictions. Similarly, police officers can arrest innocent individuals because they fit a profile. There is the notion that many people of color end
up in prison because they are more likely to be arrested than white men. In essence, the fact that an officer makes an arrest creates more of a possibility that
the individual will be prosecuted. In high profile murder cases for example the officer will have little say in the matter and the prosecutor will make the call. However, in
ordinary cases where an officer stops an individual for something mundane, a subsequent arrest will put the person through the system and make it more likely that he or she
will be convicted. If in fact the person is wrongly arrested due to the color of his skin or some other factor, it is more likely than not that such
a person will also be wrongly convicted of a crime. What can police officers, judges and prosecutors do to change things and give each and every individual a fair chance?
