If we consider the role of a manager, we can also argue that this is simply another term for a leader, for example, we may have a plant manager or an operations manager, even in a bureaucratic organisation there will need to be some level of leadership skills at this level. When we reach managing director level, these skills, arguably, need to increase, however we can also argue the opposite. It is at this stage delegation is possible, relying on the leadership of well appointed subordinates.
