the challenges of the past. The global arena is one where there increased pressures are exerted by higher levels of consumer awareness and company accountability. These included easier accessibility to
the routes by which redress such as the courts and legislature, the media, or commercial power and influence. It can be argued that there is little place, or motivation, in
the business world for ethics. Nevertheless, this is not the case as ethical considerations must remain a part of the equation. The dilemma is not only whether or not there
is a need for an ethical approach, moreover, it is how much of an ethical approach may be required and how it should be implemented.
If we look at the case of the withdrawal of Tylenol by Johnson and Johnson then we may argue that this was an ethical decision, that the
