look at how these organizations manage risk globally. What is the role of these organizations exactly? It seems that although these organizations do play a financial role in the well
being of struggling nations, many criticize their usefulness and also suggest that the focus is really more selfish than appears on the surface. Each organization has its own agenda and
funnels money to certain groups and countries accordingly. Also, what develops in reality is a situation where social stratification is exacerbated, and this is obviously not the intended consequence. Some
have suggested that to improve the input of these types of organizations, proposals are necessary so that national financial systems are put in place (Summers, 1998). This would essentially take
the burden off of organizations like IMF, ADB and the World Bank. Also, both the regulatory and legal infrastructures should be set up in such a way so that opportunities
from open capital markets are increased and risks are mitigated (1998). A "best-practice" model for example that may be utilized in supervising financial institutions is to develop a
better credit culture (1998). This would include positive risk management procedures (1998). This would also entail methods of aligning IMF and the World Bank in order to assist countries
as well as for the international system to allow for incentives if efforts are to be significant (1998). In essence, the role of these financial organizations is vast, but
the performance of the organizations has been criticized. Hence, change is necessary and it begins with strengthening government. The old idea that if one gives a man a fish, he
