wanted to have Russia on its side as Hitler was construed as the enemy. The president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt did want peace, at least ideally. Uhler writes that Roosevelt,
at least according to Michael Sherry, wanted to wage war using technology and economics as opposed to ground forcesi. Of course, the U.S. was being pulled into World War II
for a variety of reasons, despite the fact that the nation really wanted peace. Roosevelt would come to be known as a president engaged in a greater deal of
political action and also one who would create The New Deal to handle financial matters at home. And while on the domestic front, F.D.R.s politics loomed large, his overseas decisions
were just as important. They were entrenched in how World War II would culminate. Yet, prior to that world war, the president said: "Our national determination to keep free of
foreign wars and entanglements cannot prevent us from feeling deep concern when ideals and principles that we have cherished are challengedii." It was prudent to stay away from problems in
the world. The nation wanted to go towards isolationism, but that would not happen and in retrospect, many would be thankful. The U.S. was integral to getting rid of Hitler
and rendering what he did something that will likely never happen again. And while there were other concerns-and there would be concerns about communism down the road-it was Hitler that
was the problem in World War II and also the driving force for an alliance between the Untied States and Russia. In many ways, World War II enters the
