of Enobarbus most important purposes in the play is to serve as
the audience’s guide and insight to the legends and stories that
surround the queen and the woman who is Cleopatra and to also let
the audience know that the story is not likely to turn out well.

of Shakespeares plays, none of them exist without a purpose. One of Enobarbus most important purposes in the play is to serve as the audiences guide and insight to the
legends and stories that surround the queen and the woman who is Cleopatra. Shakespeare also uses him to overstate the relationship that exists between Antony and Cleopatra and through his
overblown language show the audience that the romance between Antony and Cleopatra is like a fairy tale. Enobarbus also serves to keep the audience aware of how the story is
moving forward by "letting us in on" certain supposedly unknown details. He is almost a one-man chorus in the tradition of the ancient Greek tragedies. As a result, the audience
