purity or non-purity of the substance, the size of the dose, etc. CIRCUMSTANCES OF USE A person using drugs may be a "social user" who uses only in the
presence of others and in minimal amounts as a part of their perception of social acceptance. A person may use drugs on a habitual basis due to an addiction to
the drug. People use drugs to elevate their moods when they are depressed. People use drugs to alleviate drossiness or to induce sleep - depending on the particular
situation. People use drugs to enhance their mental and/or physical capabilities. And of course, many people use drugs to alleviate the symptoms of illness or to cure infections.
RISKS OF PRESCRIPTION AND ILLEGAL STREET DRUGS Each and every drug that is used has its own set of risks. The risks can be short term or long term
and are not directly relative to whether or not the drug is legally or illegally produced and used. Taking prescription drugs in a way that hasnt been recommended by a
doctor can be more dangerous than people think. In fact, its drug abuse. And its just as illegal as taking street drugs. Whether a person is using illegal drugs or
medications that have been prescribed for themselves or for others, drug abuser often have trouble at school, at home, with friends, and often times, with the laws. It is
a demonstrated fact that a person who has been abusing drugs will more often commit a crime or have an accident, than a person who has not been abusing drugs.
