the free market economy, there is noticeable a rise of military firms in private industry. There are in fact a number of these firms and they are quite lucrative. To
some extent, globalization has influenced the demand for these private military companies. This is because wars are now fought a bit differently than they were in the past. It is
also due to the nature of the free market as capitalism encourages outsourcing by government agents. With a new war on the horizon since 9/11, and all the military actions
which have occurred since the Cold War, it is no surprise that these private military companies or PMCs/PMFs have emerged as a legitimate industry. These organizations embrace a good
deal of activity inclusive of training, intelligence gathering, logistics support and supplying personnel (Walker & Whyte, 2005). For some, it might be surprising to note that the U.S. government relies
on private industry to fuel its military actions. Singer (2003) puts it this way: " Given the fact that few have even heard of it, the privatized military industry is
a surprisingly big business" (p.59). On the other hand, many people who are astute in the political arena, and are knowledgeable about world affairs, are aware of the limitations of
the military. They realize that some of the work is farmed out. In any event, the private sector is often involved in supplying the troops with necessities. Of course, the
use of PMCs to aid during combat is not common (Walker & Whyte, 2005). The industry in general operates in a variety of countries and commands $100 billion in revenue
