of six centuries. Legend has it that twin boys
were nursed by a she-wolf to found the glorious
city of Rome in 753. These twin boys, Romulus and
Remus were descendents of the Trojan prince

However we might say of the City of the Seven
Hills got to metropolitan and independent status
about 500 BC; in the 11th century it was called
the Roman Empire and by the 12th century the
Holy Empire. The title Holy Roman Empire was
adopted in the 13th century.

BC there was conflict someone where in the Empire. Ruled by consuls and the Senate, Rome first took over central and southern Italy. The next defeat was Carthage -
and the still more expansion through Greece, Syria, Palestine and Egypt. The Emperor was given formal control to those areas, which would be exporting their products to Rome, such
as the foodstuffs and grains from Egypt. Areas which would be trading lesser goods, but still paying taxes would be monitored by the Senate as a check and balance
