to bear arms. Every citizen has the right to own a gun and ultimately to use that gun if they need to for their protection and the protection of their
family. In todays society there is more and more controversy over this law in light of "bad" people using guns to harm others. This leads to arguments that urge guns
to be illegal for all people. The following paper argues for the right to bear arms. The Right to Bear Arms
As indicated by the student requesting this paper, "According to the bill of rights citizens of the U.S. enjoy the right to bear or own arms as stated in the
2nd amendment....The amendment does not require any restrictions and therefore all people should enjoy this right. The truth, however, is that the Constitution and the Bill of Rights was ultimately
laid down as a foundation to work from. It is unlikely that the founding fathers believed their rulings would forever make sense or apply to a growing and changing nation.
As such there must be gun laws in affect, but at the same time guns should be legal for those who prove they are worthy of ownership.
Many argue that only through outlawing guns entirely will the society be safe but this is a false assumption. If guns were illegal then it
would be the law abiding citizens who would never have access to them. Guns would still be available to any criminal who wanted one and this would leave the rest
of society vulnerable. Drugs are illegal and people still access them. Bombs are illegal but people still access them. The bitter truth is that people who want illegal items will
