involving a house party with underage guests. The party was held by her son who is nineteen years old and the party included an ordinary barbeque, the use of a
pool, and guests varying in age. Some, according to the case were over 21 and some were under that age. After several loud noise calls from neighbors who also relayed
their opinions that they believed underage drinking was involved, the Police went to the residence. According to this case submitted by a student, the police spoke to thirty guests
under the age of 21 and upon entry, they discovered a keg. Some guests had already left upon seeing the police enter the front gates. In the end, according to
the case, the police called the parents of the youngsters who were underage to tell them that they needed a ride home. The question as to liability involves the
mother. Still, according to this case, both parents gave Thomas permission to host a party and they were aware that he has on occasion become inebriated. In other words, they
knew that he and his friends did drink alcohol, but Perry, the father, did check on the youths at the party from time to time. Perry was aware that alcohol
was being served but Rhoda was not. Rhoda watched television upstairs and did not speak to any of the guests. Neither Rhoda or Perry purchased alcohol for the party.
When both parents were charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor, Perry pled guilty but Rhoda did not. She explained that there were house rules and she fully expected compliance.
