of a persons life. It was the government and it was the Church. There were many people who were growing angry with the Church and its control. One of these
people was King Henry VIII. He, and others, broke the chain of control possessed by the Church and created a revolution that changed the way people lived, and the way
they engaged their faith, giving them an option besides the Catholic faith. The following paper examines the revolution that was Reformation. The Revolution of Reformation As mentioned, the
Catholic Church, or the Church as it is referred to, controlled all aspects of peoples lives. It maintained that it was the only religion, that the Church knew best in
all aspects of life, and it controlled the political powers in Europe. It only offered the people its interpretation of the Bible and did not really give people, common people,
access to the Bible so the people had to rely on what the Church said about Christianity. In addition the Church did not allow for divorce which was a problem
with Henry VIII. Other issues that people, people who would fight the revolution, had with the Church involved the fact that the Church essentially "sold" people a place in heaven,
or "sold" forgiveness for a dead individual to a living one in order that they could be allowed into heaven. There was also the issue of Original Sin which is
the Catholic belief that a person is born with the sin of Adam and Eve. And, another issue many people who fought in the religion disagreed with was the adoration
of idols, statues, and specific locations which the Bible says is wrong. One author notes, "There can be no holiness in stones, wells, shrines, relics" (Guy, 2008). In essence, the
