they relate to the Renaissance, Reformation, Baroque and Enlightenment. Renaissance to Enlightenment 1)What ideas are central to the art of the Renaissance? The world of the Renaissance was a
world where the ideals and ideas that were coming forth focused more on people, learning, and becoming more aware of the world. In previous times the focus had primarily only
been on religion and how people had to do whatever they could to fight against evil. "Renaissance thinkers began to emphasize peoples responsibilities and duties to their society, a society
that could civilize people rather than make them wicked" (The Topic: Renaissance, 2004). The artists of this time that we are perhaps most familiar with are Da Vinci and
Michelangelo. Their works present religious figures but they were also incredibly soft and realistic and seem to offer the viewer of the time the ability to make their own choices
and to think of many things, not the least of which were perhaps lessons learned in ancient Greek and Roman philosophy and art. For example, there is a very powerful
Roman feel to Michelangelos "Creation of Adam" that almost speaks of ancient Roman statues. In Medieval times such a piece of art would not be allowed because of its depiction
