Jews have been subjected to maltreatment for centuries. At one end of the spectrum of abuse, jokes have been made, and at the other, they have been tortured and killed.
Further, it is not just during the World Wars that Jews have been subject to this type of treatment. There have been several points in history where Jews were not
properly treated. Even today, prejudice lingers. Of course, the culture is more integrated than ever and Adam Sandlers Hanukah songs have provided some relief from the tension between the Jews
and the rest of the world. Yet, the reeducation of prejudice does not completely annihilate something that has gone on since the inception of Christianity. Christians have felt that they
were able to justify persecuting Jews because, in their mind, the Jews were responsible for killing Jesus Christ ("Persecution of the Jews," 2006). This is a concept that is commonly
spouted by bigots in society today. They do not consider that Jesus was Jewish himself. The idea is a misnomer. However, some have interpreted Mathew 27 to include a statement
that suggests Jews are responsible and should pay the price for it ("Persecution of the Jews," 2006). Again, this is a misinterpretation. Yet, this premise had become a common notion
and it persisted for centuries, something that would create more areas of persecution ("Persecution of the Jews," 2006). Prior to the fourteenth century Jewish Merchants were burned alive by Catholics
who moved into Cologne for example ("Persecution of the Jews," 2006). People even blamed the Plague on Jews ("Persecution of the Jews," 2006). In fact, there was a theory being
bandied about that because the Plague comes from God, perhaps he is angry at the Jews and killing them would be a good thing (Krow-Lucal, 1997). There had been
