The following paper examines Robin Marantz Henigs essay The Real Transformer. The Real Transformer When one hears the word Transformer one
envisions the childs cartoon, or the recent film called The Transformers. These Transformers are essentially machines, robots that can change into any vehicle, and yet they are possessed of intelligence,
emotion, learning capabilities and perhaps all that people wish robots could be comprised of. However, they are realistically, and fantastically, robots with the psyche or the soul of human beings,
something that robots do not possess. But, in Henigs essay some intriguing elements are noted that indicate robots may well become something real, not only in the sense that they
will exist, but that they will truly possess qualities that may be very similar to those of human beings. Henig notes that
through the years, and through the development, of various robots there have truly been incredible breakthroughs and incredible robots. For example, Henig notes how "They can only learn certain things,
just like a rat can learn only certain things and a chimpanzee can only learn certain things and even [you] can only learn certain things" (Henig, 2007). It is clearly
not the same type of learning or the same capacity for learning as human beings, but it is learning nonetheless. In another
