of regulations that control that supply and demand. In the US and the UK there are few constraints ion the demand, in the past there have been more controls,
but the demand for property but in areas such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) the market is less transparent and more easily misunderstood. However, this is a market that
is booming at the current time (MEED, 2005). The country is associated with oil and oil products, but other areas, partly due to increased efforts by the government to
decrease the reliance on oil, have resulted in a general good economic performance for the on oil sector. This is driving forward the real estate market (MEED, 2005). In 2005
the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth is expected to be at about 9%, this is higher that many other areas of the global such as the UK and US
where GDP growth is expected to be between 2.5% - 4.5 %. Two areas of increased output are the heavy industry projects
and manufacturing sectors, and is making a 10% contribution to the GDP. These areas of industry have been targeted for some time. Between 1980 and 1998 there was a
threefold increase in the export of products from areas which are not oil related (The European, 1998). This in conjunction with a very free trade policy and with a high
