meaning of life. Discussion These concepts are vast and there are no right or wrong answers, only considerations, examinations and more questions. But were going to come at this from
a societal point of view by considering issues such as abortion, womens rights, racism, the criminal justice system, and rights of workers. Well look at philosophical positions and historical opinions
as well an try to formulate a position with regard to finding meaning in life. Lets start with the biggest question of all, where did everything come from? This leads
us immediately into a creationism vs. evolution debate, with some people insisting that God created everything and others believing that it is the result of evolution. But evolution had to
start somewhere, and that appears to be the rub. If something evolves, it has to have a starting point. Where did that first whatever it is come from? No one
has yet found a convincing explanation either way, but the debate is not new, as some people think, but goes back at least to the Greeks. Although the Greeks
didnt have a term equal to "evolution," several of them deduced that things originated in other things; for instance "Thales asserts that all things originated from water" ("Evolution - Ancient
Greek Views"). Then too, "when Anaximenes calls air the principle of all things, regarding the subsequent process as a thinning or thickening, they must have considered individual beings and the
