of the industrial revolution. Today, rather than viewing the worker as an automaton, we recognize that each worker represents a complexity of mental, emotional, and physical processes which interact
to determine workplace productivity. Making the workplace flexible enough to accommodate these individual differences can thus translate into improved worker productivity and business profitability and the attainment of organizational
goals. This task falls, however, to the leaders which an organization puts in place. With effective leadership numerous provisions, in fact, can be implemented which will improve worker
productivity through an improvement of their own self perception and consequent commitment to the organization. The provision of flexible work hours can be a particularly integral component of this
leadership. Most basic industries have undergone real struggles at some point, or perhaps several points, in their histories to become more efficient and
productive (Freeman, 1995). The driving force behind this struggle of course is the bottom line of finances, of input verses output in relation to the amount of money cleared
from the business activity (Freeman, 1995). Providing the flexibility for individual employees to work the hours that are most agreeable to them can improve both input and output.
The worker who is satisfied with their working hours will not only be more mentally dedicated to their workplace commitments but also more physically capable of optimum production.
The more favorable a persons motivations and the concept a person has of himself, the more successful that person will be in terms of obtaining
