a firewall that does not mean that the information is completely protected. I perceive the biggest threat to be the wireless Internet. In the past, having a wireless Internet was
a bit worrisome, but we always had it password protected. Today, there are more wireless devices, such has the new ipod, that have the ability to access the Internet through
any wireless network. I have a wireless network and so I worry about unauthorized use. I do use encryption. My network has a WEP password that is hard to
guess. Galla (2006) says that using WPA is better than WEP, but also claims that WEP is usually good enough. Although I tend to agree, there have been times when
unknown networks seem to appear when looking at my wireless router. Although a concern, I really do not think that my neighbors are spying on me nor am I really
afraid of having the information on my computer compromised. I am a bit concerned about identity fraud. I do online banking but do not keep information on my personal computer.
That is, I do not have a quicken program. Rather, I just use the banks website to keep track of my finances. It seems as if the bank has a
good system of protection. Mullins (2002) explains that some programmers implement a system so that after a certain number of login attempts, the user cannot access the account for a
period of time. My bank utilized this strategy. I know that this has happened to me once when I forgot my password. I had to call the bank, provide personal
information, and then have the password reset. It was a rather tedious process and took about thirty minutes until I was able to look at my account again, but I
