for religious conversion or in relationship to a moral quest. What is the significance of the odyssey in society? The odyssey
today may be seen in the road trips taken by teen idols and musicians, spreading their words. Also, as the 1960s Simon and Garfunkel song Sound of Silence says, the
words of the prophets are written on the subway walls and tenement halls. Today, the words are written and spouted on the Internet and on the airwaves. Everyone has his
or her fifteen minutes of fame in a world that is immersed in the television medium. Today, with spray paint and cameras, the long journey is not necessary, but that
does not mean that the odyssey as a concept was not necessary years ago. Indeed, in the times in which the Odyssey for example was written, an odyssey was obligatory
for any hero or moral person. An odyssey does of course have the capacity to change people just as one is changed somewhat by a vacation, or
