the EU and the involvement of the US, it may be fair to argue that as the single European currency can be argued as the logical outcome of the trading
relationship that was formed, the US were, at least initially in favour of the idea. The development has seen mixed responses in Europe, however as most countries have joined, even
including Greece, where there was great difficulty in meeting convergence criteria, it can be assumed there is a wide scale approval of the single currency. Howeve,r there are also some
countries, most notably Sweden, where votes have preventing the country joining the single currency, and the UK where public opinion is against joining, the responses have not been as positive.
In general terms these countries also support the currency., but for different reasons, such as different economic cycles, do not believe it is right for them, the Danish also take
this approach. In May 2004 when a number of new countries join the EU there is already a declaration by some that they will want to join To appreciate
the way that the currency is seen we need to examine the different advantages and disadvantages of the system, for potential members this will include the internal, membership issue, for
external parties, such as non EU members, including the US, this will mean the issues encounter when trading with companies in Eurozone members. When looking at this we need
to appreciate that the single currency is more than simply an economic tool, and as such needs to be interpreted as having a greater impact and perception In the words
