on a scale so that people are not worried about getting the flu or polio for example, but diseases can be spread. Further, not everyone is immunized and sometimes, the
shots fail. Also, healthy workplaces are not only places with an absence of disease. It is thought that workplaces need to be proactive to ensure the health and quality of
life for their employees over and above protecting them from illness. Places of businesses must make sure that their buildings are safe and that hazards are reduced. Long ago, the
Triangle Factory Fire changed things because it was suggested that the workplace was not safe. In that incident, many workers died because attention was not paid to health and safety.
Further, as unions became powerful and laws were implemented, employers would have to ensure that people were making a living but not toiling for 16 hours per day. Labor law
did alter things for the better and that helped public health issues. Yet, today, not only do companies ensure that conditions will be acceptable for work, but they recognize that
a happy and healthy employee is a good employee. Some places of business offer free in house counseling services and support health club memberships and things of that nature. In
the long run, while making a place of business healthy can cost money, particularly if conditions are not, there will be positive returns in the long run. How does one
