Within the Catholic religion as well as many other religions, saints are revered and believed to have an intimate knowledge of God that other souls are unacquainted with.
And yet, people continue to be considered for sainthood. There are people today living lives as good, moral and blessed as our forefathers and their forefathers. The
process is often lengthy and quite specific but if a person does meet the requirements, then sainthood is imminent. In
the Catholic faith, there is a process which must be followed in order to name someone a saint (Canonization Information, 2002). First, the person in question must be made
a servant of God (Canonization Information, 2002). This means that they must have lived a good life - one in accordance with church faith and displayed good morals (Canonization
Information, 2002). The second step is Beatification, which "requires an extraordinary event that is recognized as miraculous by the Church" (Canonization Information, 2002). Lastly, the final step is
Canonization (Canonization Information, 2002). This step is key because this is what often distinguishes a mere "accident" from an actual miracle (Canonization Information, 2002). This step requires that
a second extraordinary event occurs and is recognized as such by the Church (Canonization Information, 2002). Beatification is not a simple process, which means that becoming a saint is not
