as an all-American, quasi-religious company, Wal-Mart is a shop that is for some people, anything but goodness and light. The company would see itself as golden. After all, it
has been profiting at a very high rate. Still, it was only in recent years that the company has begun to admit that it has a problem (Serwer, Bonamici &
Hajim, 2005). Authors write: "It is starting to do so now, but it has dug itself such a hole that so far it has not had much success. Wal-Mart has
hired legions of publicists, lobbyists, and lawyers, and its senior executives have taken to giving tub-thumping speeches in defense of its actions. But the companys stock price is stuck where
it was six years ago" (Serwer, Bonamici & Hajim, 2005, p.84). Many scandals would plague Wal Mart and a bunch would center on workers. An article in the Economist
states the following: "The biggest of these is a class action seeking damages on behalf of 1.6m past and current female workers for alleged sexual discrimination in pay, promotion and
training" ("The Everyday Price Cutter," 2004). It is common knowledge that Wal Mart does not like unions and in fact, this is something that had become a point of contention.
It was also something that the general public does not like about the large company. Yet, the firm and some of its workers sing praises of this giant that allows
