share a common language. In examining this prompt, a student may want to write about life without rules. This is, for some, a dream come true. Today, people do argue
that if it were not for the law, they could actually be free to do whatever they would like, and that would make them happy. In examining such a scenario
however, one might learn that the image of freedom is not a panacea. A place without law would allow one to do things like smoke marijuana, seize property without permission,
and not worry about financial matters. After all, rent would not have to be paid on time, taxes would be nonexistent, and there would not be laws against drug use.
People would have more choices in respect to living life. They could if they want smoke marijuana all day, drink and get into their cars, and not work because paying
for things may not be necessary. After all, they would not get arrested for stealing. At the same time, if one imagines such a world, one might find one of
two kinds of places. One type is where the people are honest and live comfortably without one another. There is no theft, rape, or murder because the people live within
an unwritten moral code. Perhaps one can use recreational drugs, but one would of course have to work in order to pay rent. Then, there is the paradigm where anarchy
breeds lawlessness and chaos. Escape from New York is an early film that depicts such an existence. Clearly, an island without laws could breed either model. It would be hard
to find something in between because if there were evil people on the island, things would spiral downward quickly without the strong arm of the law to intervene. With the
