of disasters, as well as atrocities instigated by one group of human beings against another or by individuals, one can often hear the comment that "I dont understand why people
believe in God when there is so much pain and suffering in the world." In other words, if there is a omnipotent, just Supreme Being, how can he allow evil
to exist? The basic assumptions behind such a statement are that an all-powerful God has the power to prevent evil from taking place and also that a just God will
not wish for evil to occur (Erickson 437). Numerous answers have been formulated to answer the question of why God allows evil to occur. There is the idea that
those people who endure suffering are being punished for past sins. However, the fact that young, innocent children can be cancer victims and endure considerable suffering negates this possibility. This
contradiction if countered by the assertion that seemingly innocent children endure evil and suffering due to the Original Sin, that is, because of the first sin of Adam and Eve,
which is the legacy of all humanity. While the reality of sin is evident everywhere, it is still difficult to believe that a just and loving God would intentionally subject
