Simpsons dream team lawyers experienced a serious tragedy several years ago. His son Brent had struggled on and off with drug addiction and while he was clean and sober in
his early twenties, he decided to have a few drinks at a party ("Who was Brent Shapiro," 2009). While under the influence of alcohol he took a half of a
hit of ecstasy, became very ill that night and died ("Who was Brent Shapiro," 2009). The tragedy was avoidable. During the few weeks after Brents passing, Robert Shapiro made the
television talk show rounds and discussed the situation. It seems that Brent had been doing very well in school and in life and while he did at one point have
a drug problem, he was able to stop using drugs. This unfortunate night seemed to come out of nowhere and suggests many things about drug use and abuse. That is,
while alcohol for example is alone not deadly if used reasonably, the alcohol seemed to reduce Brents resolve. Ecstasy and other street drugs are not regulated and they are dangerous
drugs. Hence, many ordinary people who are at parties will be confronted with situations where they may be offered a drug, or even given a drug unwittingly. These are dangerous
situations, but the fact that a reformed drug user just tries a drug again at a party speaks volumes about the hold that substances have on human beings. Many street
