perhaps even the world. While clearly there is more to Nixon than just this event, it was unquestionably a defining moment in both his personal life and in his
presidency, and no doubt historians will look back upon the Nixon presidential era and realize the enormity of the event.
Nixon was a bright man, and was indeed a motivated man. He was aggressive in his career, and was known for being personable. He could get along with
most, which put him in the position of being an excellent negotiator - a trait which would definitely come in handy as his career progressed. Nixon was a man
who was able to motivate the people, and he did just that in the wake of Vietnam. The country was
clearly ready for a change, and the mood of the people was grim and despairing. In the midst of this tenuous atmosphere, Nixon came along, and offered the people
hope. He preached about how government would change, and how the people deserved honesty and integrity in their officials. He would deliver nothing less - or so he
said. I believe this was Nixons greatest downfall - not being true to his word. In the aftermath of Watergate, there
would be those who would point to all of the accomplishments of Nixons political career as well as his personal attributes, and would claim that he should not be judged
harshly or unfairly. And yet, I believe that every person must be responsible for their actions and behaviors, and Nixon is no different. Here was a man whose
