the quest to belong. "Frankenstein", through its Romantic narrative, handles many humanistic themes, including the relationship between divinity and man, the essence of monstrousness, and the idea that morality can
exist without the influence or intervention of God. This paragraph helps the student provide a brief summary of the text from which to develop the rest of the paper. "Frankenstein"
opens in a harsh land where a ship has come to a standstill in a sea of ice. Soon, a man is seen coming across the ice and is taken
on board the ship. He soon begins to recount his harrowing adventure through the ice, the pain, and the creation of an abomination. His name is Victor Frankenstein and he
has one of the most tragic tales to be told. As a young man, Victor was fascinated with science, notably electricity and the belief that science can accomplish most anything.
He sets out to create a life; understanding that the dead cannot be brought back, Victor is content to create the life of his vision. However, after imbuing his creation
the same life that he possesses, he runs away. The creation is not the embodiment of a modern day Adam as Victor envisioned but a hideous creature. If God created
man in his own image then what does that say about Victors true nature? Victor soon falls ill for several months and after his recovery returns home upon hearing about
the death of his young brother, William. Apparently, William was murdered over a locket, a locket that was found in the possession of their housekeeper Justine. Later, it is revealed
to be a plot set into motion by Victors creation while the creation did not intentionally set out to kill Victors brother it does become the first act of revenge.
