When considering the way in which language is used there is a wealth of literature
from different theorists concerning the way that language can be a tool, and useful as a weapon, often to a greater extent than weapons such as guns and bullets. When
George Orwell made this statement regarding political language in his well-known essay written in 1946 "Politics and the English Language", where he looked at the way in which language was
used by politicians. He believed that political language is made up mainly of a vague and manipulative statements, arguing that it consisted mainly of euphemisms and purposeful vagueness as well
as phrased in order to gain manipulation (Carver and Pikalo, 2008). Didcot (2006) argues that political language is very evident in
the 21st century, referring to it as "a major speech that persuades by stealth", and notes that a good example of political language in the 21st century is the "war
on terror". In this instance political speak is not that the vagueness indicated by Orwell, but does reveal a strange phrase that is aimed at supporting particular policy themes that
will emerge and where emerging from the political arena. It appears that political language tends to happen settle as well as direct messages,
often hiding or obscuring potential discrepancies within the message. Didcot (2006) also note the wide use of specific terms when Tony Blair, British Prime Minister, talk to gain support for
